Our name, “Salt and Light,” is very descriptive of what the bookstore means to our church.

In Matthew 5: 13-17 Jesus says:

"You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless."

"You are the light of the world like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden .No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."

Our purpose it to pass "Salt & Light" along to others as Jesus commanded us to do.

How does the Bookstore intend to do this? We offer wonderful Christian books and ministry tools which provides the congregation and the community a means of growing closer in their walk with Jesus Christ. As each grows closer in this walk, the desire is to love and serve others grows as well.

A Church in Mission

All profits of Salt & Light Bookstore directly fund various Missions and Outreach Ministries of Christ UMC. Many first time missions have benefited from the congregations loyal support of the store. Since opening in February 2004 thousands of dollars have been raised to help support the missions of Christ UMC. The store also supplies educational materials and supplies to the church at a discount.
