Thanksgiving & Thankful Giving

Welcome to the Christ UMC Ministry Resourcing Page.

On Sunday, November 20th, we will come together as a congregation to personally pledge our financial support for the full ministry program of Christ UMC in 2017. We believe God desires to perform a great work through our congregation in the months ahead, and we need your financial support to activate the vision God has given us. That vision is broken down in 3 main ministry initiatives:

PRAYER

God has called Christ UMC to be a congregation that is grounded in prayer. In Isaiah 56:7, God said, “I will bring them to My holy mountain of Jerusalem, and I will fill them with joy in My house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because My Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” We believe God has issued that call to our congregation – He desires Christ UMC to be a house of prayer for all nations. As we live into that vision, we will continue to develop our Prayer War Room. We will broaden our prayer ministries. We will initiate special prayer gatherings in our sanctuary throughout the year with the goal of ultimately having a weekly prayer service.

COMMUNITY

When the Christian movement began 2000 years ago, it looked like this: “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer” (Acts 2:42). We believe that the larger we grow, the smaller we must become. There is no question that spiritual growth occurs best in small groups where Jesus followers instruct, encourage, embrace, and pray. In 2017, we will be expanding our ministry of small groups in significant ways with the goal that every member of Christ UMC will be connected to one of many different kinds of small groups.

WITNESS

There are two scripture passages that frame our witnessing ministry. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.”  In Acts 1:8, Jesus said to the disciples (and to us), “… you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be My witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” As we respond to God’s call on our lives to give witness to our faith in Jesus, we do so as people who are unashamed of the Gospel, believing it to be the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith. And we take that message as His witnesses locally, regionally, and globally.
