So much of who we are and what we do as a church takes place regardless of a structured time or place and does not need a building to thrive. We are the church in all times regardless of our inability to gather in person and we welcome you to contact us via email or telephone (979-690-4673 ext 109) and we will be happy to help with any questions regarding our church, ways that we can provide a personal connection for you, and encourage you.
Navigating the myriad of information regarding the people, places, and particulars of Christ UMC can be confusing and overwhelming. While God’s grace keeps faith simple, the next steps may seem a little harder in light of our current circumstances and the need to physically be distant from you and each other the next few months. The good news is that you have made the first step to take the first step and we want to help make the next steps to finding out more about God, our church, and our congregation easier for you.
We believe that God made us for community and that connection to others that are walking the same path provides hope and love, encouragement and affirmation, purpose and growth. Whether you are just beginning this journey of faith or are a seasoned traveler within the Christian community, our goal is to walk with you and help you find places and people that will encourage you and enrich you along the path and allow you to do the same for others as well.
On any given Sunday, you can find Missy Holloway, Director of Connection Ministries, as well as other church members, available to meet you and answer any questions you may have in our Connection Center, located off of the main Narthex outside of the Sanctuary worship service. Until we are all about to gather again in larger numbers, she can be reached email or by telephone at 979-690-4673 ext 109 to answer any questions or just to talk to you about our church and how we might help you to make this a place for worship, community, and outreach.
Under Covid-19 guidelines, we will not be holding worship services or small group gatherings on campus until it is safe and prudent to do so. We welcome you to join us online to hear from our pastors as they lead us through time of prayer, God’s word, and reflections in the midst of these confusing and difficult times.
Once we are able to join together again, we hope you come and join us in person to worship with us and visit our campus. We ask at that time that you complete our attendance card offered at each service to let us know who you are, how we may reach out to you, and if there are any needs or prayer requests you may have.
Meeting with the Pastor
Every other month we hold a “meeting with the pastor” to allow visitors a chance to come together for a meal with others to meet our pastors and staff personally, ask any questions you may have, and at your choice, take the opportunity to make a profession of faith or join by transfer from another church to become a part of our congregation. You may also join our church following any worship service or by making arrangements with Missy for a time that is convenient for you.
We are also available for a campus tour to help you navigate “what goes on where” and acquaint you with some of the special places that God uses in our buildings and surroundings to work and grow with Him.
The good news is that a church our size has many ways for our congregation to make personal connections, study God’s word together, pray singularly or together, and serve each other and our community. God has given each of us needs and talents unique to each one individually, and Connection Ministries hopes to help bridge the gap between a description on paper and actually meeting someone in a group or ministry of interest to you. Our website and Connection Center have written information about all that goes on at Christ UMC and any upcoming events that you may want to attend.
When you become a member of our church, you will be given an opportunity to let us know what areas interest you and we will work to have someone contact you to help you become a part of their group or ministry. Of course, no invitation is necessary to become a part of a small group or service opportunity and everyone is welcome to just “show up”.
Any time Steps:
Nothing opens our hearts like service to others and the Connection Ministries is always in need of members to serve as greeters, cookie and bread bakers, Connection Center and Information Desk hosts during all services and special events. All that is required is an open heart and ready smile to help make everyone who steps through our doors feel welcome and needed. Missy Holloway can help you find a time and date that works well for you – an easy way to meet fellow members and visitors.
